Judy Stokes APSNZ

After 25 years as a classical musician and teacher, I shifted my focus to photography.
This is now my all consuming passion. I have a studio in Muriwai,New Zealand, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. My photographs focus on capturing the mood rather than the literal translation of what is in front of me and are often described as looking like paintings rather than photographs. I often use intentional camera movement to help me express the emotions I find in the landscapes I love. I am happiest walking with only my camera and dog in any weather, to be followed up by hours spent processing those images .

In 2012 I received a Licentiate from the Photographic Society of New Zealand and in 2015 I was awarded an Associateship.

My  framed work can be found at the Smallworks gallery in Matakana and at the Sanddunz cafe in Muriwai. You are also able to contact me directly for prints.
